Professional Internship at the JóLÉlek Psychological Foundation

One of the key missions of the JóLÉlek Psychological Foundation is to support psychology graduates and students in their final years of study as they take their first steps toward practicing as professional psychologists. This support is provided by introducing them to the professional and human values represented by the Foundation, involving them in the activities of the Foundation’s collaborating psychologists, and enabling them to contribute to the Foundation’s work through roles tailored to their competencies.

For interns joining us through university programs or individual agreements, we offer the following opportunities:

PARTICIPATION IN PROFESSIONAL TEAMWORK

The cornerstone of the internship is the weekly meeting held every Friday from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, serving as a regular, in-person gathering for the Foundation’s psychologists. During this time, interns have the opportunity to participate in the Foundation’s supervision group, where collaborating psychologists discuss personal and professional topics under the guidance of an external supervisor.

On other Fridays, interns can join case discussion/intervision groups, which are accessible either online or in person at the Foundation’s office.

According to a pre-arranged schedule, Team meetings are also held. These sessions bring together the Foundation’s collaborating psychologists and volunteers to coordinate roles in joint projects, address individual and collective goals, and tackle emerging challenges related to their shared work.

Since one of the key missions of the JóLÉlek Psychological Foundation is psychoeducation and raising awareness about psychological topics, we provide full support to our interns and encourage their active involvement in this area.

PSYCHOEDUCATION, AWARENESS RAISING

Tasks related to awareness-raising are always tailored to individual interests and preferences. Psychoeducation can take various engaging forms, such as organizing online or offline discussions, lectures, or workshops (individually or in collaboration with a co-facilitator). Alternatively, it can involve written contributions, such as creating engaging materials or accessible (blog) articles on psychological topics. These written pieces are published on our website and social media platforms.

In our experience, it is crucial for newly qualified or future psychologists to practice confidently expressing their professional, literature-supported opinions on specific topics. We provide full technical and professional support for the preparation of blog articles.

Since social media serves as another key platform for awareness-raising, we warmly welcome the creative and innovative contributions of our interns to enhance our virtual presence with engaging and attention-grabbing content. We encourage the development of thematic content, aligned with the intern’s interests and competencies.

CASE MANAGEMENT

Beyond awareness-raising, we can also support interns in trying themselves in individual case management (in a peer-support role) if they feel motivated to do so. Identifying cases suitable to the intern’s competencies is a matter of mutual agreement. Case management typically involves a counseling process lasting 1 to 10 sessions. Interns can seek guidance from their mentor, their internship supervisor, or the case discussion group for any questions or challenges that arise.

INDIVIDUAL INITIATIVES

In addition to the above, we encourage and support any individual initiatives that align with the intern’s interests and the Foundation’s activities and goals. The internship period offers an excellent opportunity to realize personal professional ideas or inspirations that may require support, professional guidance, a venue, encouragement, or a combination of these to bring them to life.

What we expect:

  • reliability
  • openness
  • curiosity
  • initiative
  • willingness to take individual responsibility for personal development

In order to complete the university internship, you need to produce at least 2 “psychoeducational products” selected from the following: an article, a video blog, an online activity, a thematic activity in social media, etc. We will provide you with all the professional and human support you need to carry it out. The time spent on the psychoeducational products will be accounted for in your internship hours.

What we offer:

  • an insight into the life, aims and involvement of an NGO with a psychological mission
  • meeting a team of psychologists working in a variety of professional fields
  • knowledge sharing
  • asking and discussing dilemmas and questions related to the profession of psychologist (on demand)
  • professional guidance (on demand)
  • As the JóLÉlek Psychological Foundation is also a high quality counselling centre, the trainee can also immerse himself in such an environment
  • individual mentoring
  • flexibility
