Kovács-Hanka Alexandra
counselling psychologist
As part of my specialist training in counselling psychology, I am specialising in family and couples therapy. This training has provided me with an in-depth understanding of family and relationship dynamics. Within individual counselling, this perspective can be particularly helpful when working with transgenerational patterns, exploring family and relationship dynamics, and understanding and working through the client’s own role within their relationships.
I can support clients with questions relating to their personal lives, integrating different roles and aspects of themselves, and promoting psychological growth and development. I have a particular interest in topics related to womanhood, women’s health and the psychological aspects of experiencing and relating to one’s femininity.
My therapeutic approach is based on Complex Integrative Therapy, with a particular focus on imaginative therapy. Using this method, I accompany clients as a partner and guide into their inner world through an altered state of consciousness, where they can work with the spontaneous emergence of subconscious images and symbols.
I have always been deeply committed to the field of psychology. I continually develop my knowledge through extensive reading, researching topics that interest me, and ongoing professional training. My aim is to gain a deeper understanding of different areas so that I can provide more appropriate and meaningful support to the clients I work with.
Alongside verbal techniques, I enjoy incorporating practical and creative tools into the counselling process, as these can approach difficulties and areas of stuckness from different perspectives. I also frequently recommend self-help books, podcasts, exercises and between-session activities that can support clients in continuing their personal work independently.
I tend to take a holistic approach and do not feel bound by conventional or widely accepted ways of understanding psychological difficulties. I am open to both Eastern and Western perspectives, with a particular interest in integrating the two. It is important to me that each counselling process is tailored to the individual client and their personality, needs and circumstances.
If you feel that this approach could be a good fit for the kind of support you are looking for, I would be happy to hear from you.
