Grief and loss counselling

Grief is a natural human reaction to everything we lose in life – not only the death of a loved one, but also the end of a relationship, the loss of a familiar way of life, a change in our health or the loss of a future we had hoped for. In grief and loss counselling we offer a safe, non-judgemental space for the feelings that come with loss – so that the loss no longer writes the present, and joy and connection can take its place.

When is it worth seeing a professional?

Grief counselling can help:

  • after the death of a loved one – a parent, partner, child, sibling or friend
  • after perinatal loss (miscarriage, stillbirth, failed embryo transfer, premature birth, infant death)
  • after divorce, a breakup or the end of an important relationship
  • after losing a job, financial security or a professional identity
  • after a serious diagnosis or a change in health
  • after moving or emigrating, and losing a home and a familiar community
  • after the loss of a pet
  • when a dream or an imagined future can no longer come true
  • with old, unresolved losses that still affect the present years later

How long does grief counselling take?

A session lasts 50 minutes, once a week, for about 6–8 sessions.
